Dear Ward 2 Residents,
My name is James Dorner, and I am proud to call Tecumseh home. Ward 2 is not just the area I represent, it is the community I live in, the community I care about, and the place I am proud to serve.
My commitment to service started with the Canadian Armed Forces, where I spent eight years as a Combat Engineer. During my time in the military, I deployed to Afghanistan and responded to the 2013 Calgary floods. Those experiences taught me the importance of helping others, staying calm under pressure, and working together to solve problems.
After leaving the military, I earned my Civil Engineering degree, specializing in structural engineering, and gained experience working in community development and municipal infrastructure projects. I brought that experience home to Tecumseh because I wanted to use my skills to help make our community stronger.
In 2022, I was honoured to be elected as your Ward 2 Councillor. Since then, I have worked hard to be accessible, listen to residents, and focus on the issues that matter most to our community.
During my first term, I have supported important improvements throughout Ward 2, including road repaving projects, upgrades at Lakewood Park, investments in our pumping stations, and improvements that help make our community safer. I believe the role of a Councillor is simple: listen to residents, understand their concerns, and work hard to deliver results.
I also believe that the growth of Tecumseh needs to be managed carefully. Our neighbourhoods are special because of their character, community feel, and quality of life. Residents have told me they want growth that respects the communities that already exist, and I will continue to support responsible development that fits within our neighbourhoods and our infrastructure.
Looking Ahead
There is important work ahead for Ward 2, and I am committed to continuing to advocate for the improvements our community needs.
A major priority will be rebuilding and improving both Arlington Boulevard and Manning Road from Riverside Drive to Tecumseh Road. These important roads a major investment, improved roadways, new sidewalks, safer pedestrian connections, and infrastructure that meets the needs of our growing community.
I will also continue working to improve the things that make Ward 2 a great place to live, including better parks, more trees throughout our community, stronger pedestrian safety measures, and continued investments in flood mitigation infrastructure.
My goal is to protect what makes Tecumseh special while preparing for the future. I want to keep Tecumseh one of the best places to live, raise a family, and enjoy a great quality of life.
Serving others has always been a big part of my life. Whether it was serving our country or serving our community, my commitment remains the same: to listen, to work hard, and to be there for the people I represent.
It has been an honour to serve as your Councillor, and I respectfully ask for your support as I seek re-election to continue serving Ward 2.
